Dental veneers are made from wafer-thin pieces of porcelain. They are shaped to fit over your teeth and cover up the front chewing surfaces. By covering up your natural teeth, dental veneers can treat a huge variety of cosmetic problems including gaps in your smile, stained teeth, misshapen or small teeth, slightly crooked teeth, and more.
Veneers are durable and long-lasting, and they look and feel just like natural teeth. They also do not require any special care. Just brush and floss normally, and see Dr. Hang Pham for a checkup every six months.
The veneer placement process takes two appointments over a period of about 2-3 weeks, and it’s minimally-invasive. After Dr. Hang Pham has approved you for veneers, you’ll come in for your first appointment, and your teeth will be prepared for veneers.
Dr. Hang Pham will clean and numb your mouth, then begin preparing your teeth for veneers. Each tooth that is getting a veneer must be trimmed to remove a thin layer of enamel. This ensures the veneers fit properly and do not affect your bite. After your teeth are trimmed, Dr. Hang Pham will take impressions and images of your teeth, and attach a set of temporary veneers.
You’ll be sent home, and the impressions and images of your teeth will be sent to a dental lab where your veneers will be built. This process takes about 2-3 weeks. When your permanent veneers arrive at our office, you’ll come back for your second and final appointment.
At this appointment, Dr. Hang Pham will remove your temporary veneers and clean your teeth. Then, she will check the fit of each veneer and attach your veneers permanently using a special adhesive. This completes the procedure.
Veneers may be a good option for you if you have cosmetic problems with your teeth, but your mouth is healthy and free of problems like gum disease, cavities, and broken or damaged teeth. In addition, you must not have major orthodontic issues, or you may not be able to get veneers. At your consultation, Dr. Hang Pham can help you decide if you’re a good candidate for veneers.
